Kindergarten ~ Ages 4 & 5

Every child deserves to have an awesome “First Experience” on his or her educational journey. That is my goal for each student that enters my classroom! My philosophy is

“Learning should be enriching, exciting, & FUN!”

I also hold dear the opportunity to share God’s Word and help establish Christian values and morals in the hearts of each child. This is an educational journey we share by working together to achieve these goals.

Our kindergarten encompasses two levels. We have a K-4 program for 4 year-olds and a K-5 program for 5 year-olds. Each level has its own curriculum. These classes may be taught as a separate or combined class. (This varies with enrollment.) Both levels are taught on a full day basis.

The A-Beka curriculum is used for both levels. This curriculum includes a phonics-based reading program, math, science, health and social studies. For further enrichment, we teach introductory French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Our “Specials” program consists of Music, Computer, PE and Art.

The theme this year will be “Under the Sea.” This will include books, movies, puppets, sea creature replicas and hands-on activities that will take the children into an under-water wonder world of excitement and discovery.

To add to their learning experiences, there will be play center items such as:

• Rock Sample Trays
• Dinosaurs
• Farm Animals / John Deer Truck and Trailer
• Coins
• Insects
• Sea Creatures
• Fish Aquarium
• Special educational and story books for each topic
• And more…..

We have a “dress-up” center, housekeeping center, wood working shop, book nook, general play toys, and a “Kiddy Market” (for those who love to shop ‘til they drop).

We also have our own “School Store.”   The children earn merits during the school day for a variety of reasons. Then every Friday, they shop at our School Store for toys, school supplies, candy, and special gift items. It is an excellent opportunity to learn the value of money and money management.
